Commitment to Lessons:
Parents are committed to a semester of study once lessons begin. Particularly with young children, music lessons only work when there is a commitment on the part of the parent to follow through with daily practice and support.
Lesson Notes:
At home, the parent is the teacher. Taking good lesson notes is vital for good practice. Feel free to record your child's lessons. I do that for my own lessons, and I'm always surprised how much I would have forgotten otherwise.
Missed Lessons:
You are reserving a lesson time whether you use it or not. I've scheduled in one week at the end of the fall semester for a missed lesson. The studio schedule is listed under the For Studio Families tab. If you do foresee a conflict on a particular lesson day, try trading lesson times with another student. (For lesson times and contact information, click on Studio Family Contact Information, under the For Studio Families tab.)
Group Lessons:
Group lessons are for every student and everyone is expected to participate.
Performances:
I will provide the accompanist as needed for all group classes, rehearsals, and performances. Students are responsible for any extra rehearsal time they need or want to have with the pianist. Students preparing for a solo book recital are responsible for their own accompanist fees for rehearsal and performances.
Studio Library:
Student families are welcome to check out any of the items in my studio library. There are teaching aids and toys, resource books for parents as well as students, copies of the Suzuki Journal, Strad Magazine, Strings Magazine, and other relevant materials. When borrowing a library book, please remember to use the library card inside the book cover.
Contests and Auditions:
A student of mine won a $500 scholarship from the Longmont Musical Society, and others have won money prizes in fiddle contests. Ask me for details if interested in competing. If preparing for an audition, let me know. I'll gladly help you with that.
